A fire has broken out at the Azot chemical plant in Novomoskovsk after Ukrainian attack drones struck it.

Dmitry Milyaev, governor of Russia’s Tula region, reported this.

According to Milyaev, the fire started at one of Novomoskovsk’s industrial facilities during a Ukrainian drone attack in the early hours of June 14, 2026, as Russian air defenses were attempting to repel the strike.

Although Milyaev did not specify the exact site of the strike, NASA’s FIRMS monitoring system detected an abnormal heat signature at the Azot plant. The satellites recorded the fire at 03:09 a.m.

At daybreak, local residents began posting videos showing a large fire burning on the plant’s premises.

The facility is located at coordinates 54.085675, 38.181503, approximately 350 km (217 miles) from Ukraine’s state border. The Azot chemical plant in Novomoskovsk, Tula region, is one of the largest chemical industry enterprises in Russia.

The plant can produce chemical compounds used in the manufacture of explosives.

This is not the first attack on the facility. On May 26, 2026, Ukrainian drones also struck the Azot chemical plant in Novomoskovsk.

Novomoskovsk is not the only city where chemical plants have been targeted. Other facilities reportedly hit by drone attacks include KuibyshevAzot in Tolyatti on March 11, 2026, and TogliattiAzot on December 19, 2025, along with several other chemical enterprises located within the strike range of long-range strike drones.

Militarnyi previously reported that Ukrainian long-range attack drones struck the Metafrax Chemicals plant in Gubakha on May 23, 2026.

Metafrax Chemicals is one of Russia’s largest chemical producers and a major global manufacturer of methanol and methanol-based products. The company is also considered an important supplier of chemical feedstocks to Russia’s industrial and defense sectors.

Among its products is urea, a chemical compound used in the production of ammonium nitrate–fuel oil blasting agents. These mixtures are widely employed in mining and other industrial applications and can also be adapted for military explosive purposes.
